Head of the Security Unit

Do you want to lead an important community mission and contribute to a safer Umeå? We are looking for a head of the Security Unit, a key function within the Department of Community Protection and Preparedness at the City Executive Office.

Here, we work to drive, support, develop, and manage the municipality's work with security, crisis preparedness, and civil defense – a mission that makes a real difference.

The Security Unit is responsible for:

• crisis preparedness and civil defense
• information security, operational and security protection
• preventive work against welfare crime
• insurance protection and loss prevention measures.

About the assignment

As the unit manager, you will lead eleven dedicated employees in an organization that is constantly evolving in line with the outside world. You will have personnel, work environment, and budget responsibilities and report directly to the preparedness director. You will be part of the department's management team along with other managers and be an important part of the municipality's crisis management organization and TIB function.

About you

We are looking for a confident and strategic leader who can drive development and build trust.

You have:

• relevant post-secondary education or experience as a manager in the security field
• documented experience as a manager with personnel and work environment responsibility
• the ability to work strategically and translate plans into effect and capability enhancement
• experience in crisis management
• a good understanding of politically governed operations.

It is an advantage if you have experience in strategic work with security, crisis preparedness, and civil defense in the public sector, preferably at the municipal or regional level.

You are a trust-building and stable leader who bases your leadership on trust. You have a strong ability to drive issues forward, both independently and in close collaboration with others. With your positive and solution-oriented approach, you will become a valued collaborator, both internally and externally.

You have the ability to create legitimacy and build trust within the municipal organization and in collaboration with external actors. You do this by combining responsiveness and clarity with very good communication skills. Great emphasis is placed on your personal qualities.

The position is security classified and requires Swedish citizenship.
